Church Distinctives

In addition to the foundational beliefs in our Statement of Faith that all orthodox Christians observe, our church has a number of theological distinctives that help to distinguish us from some other gospel-believing churches. While this is not an exhaustive list, below is a selection of some of those particular convictions and practices that we hold to.

Church Governance

Canby Christian Church holds to a congregational model of church governance. This means that our church is led by a plurality of elders who are dually elected by the church members of our congregation. The final authority in major matters within the church are made by the entirety of our church membership, all of whom have made a credible profession of faith in Christ and have committed to adhering to a clear set of biblical ideals.

You can also listen to the pastors of the church discuss the issues of church leadership, church membership, discipline, and other related topics through our On Healthy Church Podcast Series.

Marriage

We believe that marriage was designed by God in the beginning of time and defined in Genesis chapter 2 as being between a man and a woman.
